Ancient Egypt Brought To Life With Virtual Model of Karnak

Post  English-Al. on Tue Jun 09, 2009 10:35 pm

For the past two years, a team of UCLA Egyptologists, digital modelers, web designers, staff and students has been building a three-dimensional virtual-reality model of the ancient Egyptian religious site known as Karnak, one of the largest temple complexes ever constructed.

Heres the link to get to the site... http://dlib.etc.ucla.edu/projects/Karnak

In addition ... The Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities has announced that an expedition sponsored by the University of Memphis has discovered a new tomb in the Valley of the Kings. The tomb appears to date to the 18th Dynasty (ca. 1539-1292 B.C.) and it contains five human mummies and several pottery vessels. It is located just a few meters from the tomb of King Tutankhamen.

Heres the link to that.. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/02/060212181106.htm
